The Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner receives and reviews confidential reports of assets, liabilities and activities from public office holders under the Conflict of Interest Act and from Members of the House of Commons under the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons.
Under the Act and the Code, individuals are required to make a number of disclosures relating to their assets, liabilities and outside activities. Public office holders and Members are required to report any material changes to their information within a specified deadline.
This information is reviewed by the Office to determine relevant compliance measures and assist in providing advice and guidance regarding the obligations of public office holders and Members. The information remains confidential, but a brief summary is made public.
Specific requirements regarding the information that must be provided to our Office is contained in section 22 of the Act and section 21 of the Code.
